Process of Creating the Poetic Vase and Extroverted Vase

Initially, I made five working comps of a vase. I chose two. Here are my sketches:

I explored making the interweaving text version of the Poetic Vase. I wasn't satisfied with the form and the interactivity of the vase was limited.

This turned into the Extroverted Vase. One would insert the stem into the holes so that the stem remains in the vessel and flowers are outside the vessel.

Finally, I decided to use the laser-cutting facilities. The Poetic Vase is made out of Plexiglas, instead of glass. Because of this medium, I chose a playful poem from E.E. Cummings and a playful font, Bauhaus, to express "I Carry Your Heart With Me." This vase allows the user to interact with the vase by changing the vases form and hierarchy of the tiles that express the lines of the poem.
