      Cardboard Chair Iteration

Initially I wanted to explore the concepts of Dominant, Sub-Dominant and Subordinate. My initial sketch was a chair formed from a sphere subtracted from a cube, and the sphere would be an ottoman. I wanted all the elements to be modular, so if I had 2 or even 4 of these cube chairs, one could form a bench or even a hood for the chair. Due to the 3.5 feet dimensions, time and weather constraints, I changed my design to modular elements.

Then I decided to keep modular elements, but to scale the cube so it was workable. I wanted to make blocks and play with the patterns of the corrugated cardboard, which also helped with making the structure stronger. The final iteration of the chair can be converted to a side table to save space, something desperately needed in New York apartments.
